Melatonin as an isolated ingredient is a legitimate sleep supplement — meta-analyses (Ferracioli-Oda 2013 PLoS ONE, Auld 2017 Sleep Med Rev) show small effects on sleep onset latency (~7 min faster) and total sleep time (~8 min longer) at 0.5-5mg doses taken 30-60 min before bed. Higher doses are not better and often worse (rebound insomnia). The critical issue with this SKU: melatonin is buried in a mixed formula ('mint leaf extract, traditional Chinese medicine extract, gluconic acid lactone, potassium sorbate, vitamin B1, melatonin') where the melatonin dose is not disclosed and the unnamed TCM extract could contain sedating botanicals with pharmacological interactions. The identical base ingredient block appears on multiple other Vivalo 'drops' products in this batch (Weight Loss Control Drops, Hip Augmentation, Herbal Shaping) — confirming this is a single template formula with melatonin added.
