Business model & transparency

How Vyvata Works

Vyvata is Vyvata LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company operating an online retail storefront combined with a public, evidence-anchored product-scoring editorial platform. This page explains what we are, how we make money, how sourcing works, how customer support works, and how our scoring editorial independence is enforced. If you're evaluating Vyvata as a customer, a supplier, a partner, or a search engine trying to determine whether we're a real business — this is the answer.

What Vyvata sells

Vyvata is a retail storefront for consumer wellness products across five categories:

  • Supplements & ingestibles — vitamins, minerals, botanicals, adaptogens, functional foods.
  • Wearables & diagnostic hardware — sleep trackers, fitness watches, continuous glucose monitors, blood-pressure monitors, ECG devices.
  • Sleep systems — mattress toppers, pillows, sleep masks, weighted blankets, tracking peripherals.
  • Recovery equipment — percussion massagers, red-light devices, saunas, cold plunges, compression boots.
  • At-home diagnostic kits — blood panel kits, hormone panels, food-sensitivity panels, metabolic markers.

Product-count breakdown as of the current catalog snapshot: 5,500+ products across ~420 vendors. Every product carries a Vyvata rubric score visible on its product page.

How Vyvata makes money

Vyvata's revenue is straightforward: retail margin on products sold through the storefront. That's it. There is no other revenue stream.

What Vyvata charges for

  • Retail margin on products sold — the difference between the wholesale / distributor cost and the customer-facing price.
  • Shipping fees where applicable (per the Shipping Policy).

What Vyvata does NOT charge for

  • Sponsored scoring, paid placement, or higher tiers in exchange for money — never.
  • Brand-sponsored editorial coverage — never.
  • Advertising placement on Vyvata pages by brands whose products we score.
  • “Verification” badges, seller-of-the-month positioning, or any form of pay-to-play tier.

How products get into the Vyvata catalog

Products enter the catalog through three sourcing channels:

  • Direct wholesale relationships — Vyvata buys inventory from certain brands and distributors and lists them for retail sale, either fulfilled from Vyvata's location or drop-shipped by the supplier.
  • Shopify Collective and equivalent multi-vendor sourcing arrangements — third-party brands list products on Vyvata's storefront and fulfill orders directly from their own warehouses. Vyvata receives a retail margin on the sale; the brand ships the product.
  • Vyvata-direct branded products — a small number of products under the Vyvata brand name. These are typically products where a category gap was identified after scoring.

Sourcing channel does not affect scoring. A product is scored on the same rubric regardless of whether Vyvata sources it directly, drop-ships it from a third-party vendor, or manufactures it under the Vyvata name. This is documented and binding in SCORING-INTEGRITY.md.

How the scoring works

Every product is scored 0–100 against a public 6-dimension rubric — evidence, formulation, manufacturing, safety, transparency, sustainability — and displayed in one of four tiers publicly visible on the product page:

  • Elite (85+) — top of category, RCT evidence at studied dose, best-form ingredients, transparent manufacturing.
  • Verified (70–84) — passing on all six dimensions with no auto-fail flags.
  • Standard (55–69) — legitimate products with rubric-flagged weaknesses (formulation, transparency, testing).
  • Rejected (below 55) — auto-fail triggered (proprietary blend, unverified medical claim, sub-therapeutic dose, safety concern). Rejected products stay listed on Vyvata with their honest tier and reasoning visible. This is the adversarial-transparency commitment that makes the Verified and Elite tiers meaningful.

The full rubric documents (supplements + non-supplement) are on GitHub. Every scoring decision is committed to the public repository with an evidence artifact (a batch-scoring JSON with per-product reasoning, or a crawl-output JSON with citations). A supplier-name leakage linter refuses to apply any scoring content containing distributor names in customer-facing text.

Editorial independence — the binding policy

Vyvata's scoring integrity policy is public and applied the same way to every listed brand. The full policy is at SCORING-INTEGRITY.md. In summary:

  • No score, tier, dimension breakdown, or auto-fail metafield may be hand-edited to make it higher or lower without a rubric-anchored evidence artifact committed alongside the change.
  • Rejected products are not hidden from category pages, rankings, or search results to make the catalog look better.
  • Scoring subagents are prohibited from being prompted with brand-preferential language (“this is Brand X, be generous”).
  • Every scoring commit lands in the public repository with an evidence artifact. A metafield change without an accompanying evidence file is a red flag.

How customer support works

Vyvata acts as your single point of contact for every purchase — regardless of which vendor shipped the product.

What Vyvata is NOT

  • Not a medical provider, licensed healthcare service, or diagnostic clinic. Vyvata scores are editorial opinions against a published rubric — not medical advice.
  • Not a pay-to-play scoring service. Brands do not pay Vyvata for scores, tiers, or coverage.
  • Not a subscription service. Vyvata does not currently sell subscriptions.
  • Not an international retailer. Vyvata currently ships only within the United States (all 50 states + APO/FPO).
  • Not a marketplace where anyone can list products for sale. All catalog additions go through Vyvata's editorial process.
