The "NO2 Original Formula" is the older sibling to NO2 Black in MRI's nitric oxide product line. The original NO2 launched in the early 2000s built around L-arginine as the primary NO precursor — an era before the sports nutrition literature had fully embraced L-citrulline as the superior oral NO precursor. Arginine's oral bioavailability is limited by first-pass intestinal and hepatic arginase activity, so oral doses raise plasma arginine only modestly and produce blunted NO effects compared to L-citrulline at equivalent doses. Regardless of specific ingredient list, the typical NO2 product structure uses a proprietary blend labeling that discloses total blend weight but hides per-ingredient milligrams — triggering the proprietary_blend_hides_dose autofail. Even if the per-ingredient doses were disclosed and clinically appropriate, the choice of arginine over citrulline as the primary active reflects a dated formulation that has been superseded by ~15 years of pharmacokinetic evidence.
