The colon does not need sweeping — it moves food residue via peristalsis every ~24-72 hours and does not accumulate 'toxins' that require flushing. The 'colon cleanse' concept was medically discredited more than a century ago (post-1919 rejection of autointoxication theory) and modern gastroenterology (Mishori 2011 J Fam Pract review) finds no evidence for improvements in health from colon cleansing, with documented risks (electrolyte imbalance, dehydration, dependence for stimulant laxatives, bowel perforation).
