Why this scored 45/100

The EASE-Z Diabetics' Pain Relieving Foot Cream from BIOTONE combines zinc (barrier and skin-soothing), capsaicin (topical analgesic with modest evidence for diabetic neuropathy pain — Derry 2017 Cochrane review supports high-concentration capsaicin patches for post-herpetic and diabetic neuropathy but consumer-grade OTC concentrations show weaker signal), and menthol (TRPM8 counterirritant analgesia) in a formulation specifically indicated for diabetic foot pain and neuropathy symptoms. The formulation itself is competent and the indication is real (diabetic peripheral neuropathy is a well-established clinical concern), but the same scope problem as the EASE-Z Dry Skin variant applies here: this is a condition-specific medical adjunct for a chronic-disease population, not a biohacking or general-wellness recovery product. Diabetics with painful peripheral neuropathy need clinician-directed care — pharmacologic (gabapentinoids, SNRIs), interventional, and appropriate topical adjuncts — with monitoring, not consumer-platform recommendations. Vyvata is not the correct sales channel for medical-management adjuncts. Rejected under out_of_scope_for_biohacking on the same rationale as the sibling SKU: not a quality issue with the product, a fit issue with the platform. Would become listable at Standard 55+ only if repositioned as general-population topical foot-pain relief (dropping the diabetic-specific indication).

Evidence & sources

The Vyvata score's Evidence dimension measures the quality of published RCT support for a product's active ingredients at the label dose. Our source hierarchy: double-blind RCTs in MEDLINE-indexed journals > single-blind RCTs > open-label trials > observational studies > mechanism papers > N=1 case studies (anecdotes). Predatory journals and manufacturer-authored studies without independent replication are weighted down.

Product-specific evidence citations for this item are embedded in the analysis text on the "Analysis" tab. For the full framework and evidence hierarchy, see the methodology page.

How to read the Evidence dimension

  • 80–100: Multiple double-blind RCTs in indexed journals directly testing this product OR the exact ingredients at the exact dose.
  • 60–79: Single double-blind RCT + supporting ingredient literature at the studied dose.
  • 40–59: Open-label trials + ingredient literature; no product-specific double-blind evidence.
  • 20–39: Ingredient literature only; no product-specific trials or trials in predatory venues.
  • 0–19: No credible evidence base or unverifiable claims.
