Axe & Sledge (Seth Feroce's brand) The Grind is a stimulant-free intra- and post-workout amino-acid-and-hydration formula built around 6 g BCAAs (leucine, isoleucine, valine), a supplemental EAA blend, an electrolyte matrix, and AstraGin (Panax notoginseng plus Astragalus extract, marketed for amino-acid absorption). The 6 g BCAA dose is at the low end of published leucine-driven muscle-protein-synthesis dosing (the leucine 'threshold' for MPS stimulation is roughly 2.5-3 g leucine per feeding, which requires about 5-7 g of a 2:1:1 BCAA blend), so the dose is functionally adequate for post-workout leucine-signaling purposes. The larger evidence question is whether standalone BCAA supplementation adds anything above adequate whole-protein intake, and the current consensus (Wolfe 2017 review; ISSN 2017 position stand nuance) is that in the presence of sufficient daily protein (~1.6-2.2 g/kg for training individuals) standalone BCAA supplementation does not add measurable MPS or performance benefit — the value is convenience and low-calorie intra-workout hydration rather than an anabolic edge. EAA content is a genuine addition that BCAA-only products lack. Electrolyte matrix is a modest addition for training-session hydration. AstraGin evidence for amino-acid absorption enhancement is thin — brand-sponsored studies show modest effect, independent replication is limited. Manufacturing is in a cGMP-registered US facility, per-lot COAs available on request, no Informed Sport / NSF certification. Safety profile is high (stim-free amino acids). Would move to Standard 65+ with published Informed Sport certification and clearer positioning as convenience-hydration rather than as an MPS-driver.
The Vyvata score's Evidence dimension measures the quality of published RCT support for a product's active ingredients at the label dose. Our source hierarchy: double-blind RCTs in MEDLINE-indexed journals > single-blind RCTs > open-label trials > observational studies > mechanism papers > N=1 case studies (anecdotes). Predatory journals and manufacturer-authored studies without independent replication are weighted down.
Product-specific evidence citations for this item are embedded in the analysis text on the "Analysis" tab. For the full framework and evidence hierarchy, see the methodology page.

The Vyvata score measures product integrity against a published rubric, not customer sentiment. Vyvata does not aggregate, republish, or license third-party reviews — the links below open search pages on their respective platforms.
Every VSF-related metafield surfaced verbatim. Nothing hidden. If you spot data that looks wrong, let us know.
Every score is set from the published rubric, audit-logged, and rescored whenever new evidence emerges (published trials, updated labels, third-party testing releases). Every vendor is scored on the same criteria — no pay-to-play. See our editorial-independence disclosure for the full policy, including brands with an editorial relationship to this site.
