Irwin Naturals is a decades-established US mass-retail supplement brand known for its liquid soft-gel delivery format. The 'Stored-Fat Belly Burner' SKU centers on Sinetrol, a branded citrus polyphenol extract (Fytexia, France) that does have a handful of company-funded small RCTs (Dallas 2008, Dallas 2014) showing modest reductions in abdominal fat and waist circumference over 12 weeks at 900 mg/day. What sinks the score: the 'targeted' spot-fat-reduction framing ('metabolizes stored fat in stubborn areas such as the belly, waist and hips') is a misleading naming pattern — human physiology does not permit selective site-specific fat mobilization from a supplement, and the underlying Sinetrol trials showed general fat-mass reduction rather than site-selective 'belly' targeting. The proprietary Irwin Naturals liquid soft-gel matrix includes multiple additional ingredients (typically caffeine, green tea, guarana, other thermogenics) that are not fully disclosed per constituent milligram at the title level, moving the formulation toward proprietary-blend structure. Weight-management claims combined with 'targeted' spot-reduction framing and incomplete per-ingredient disclosure place this in low-Rejected tier despite Sinetrol having real underlying evidence. Not autofailed outright because Sinetrol's evidence base is real and Irwin Naturals is an established GMP-compliant manufacturer, but the 'targeted belly fat' marketing crosses the misleading-naming boundary.
The Vyvata score's Evidence dimension measures the quality of published RCT support for a product's active ingredients at the label dose. Our source hierarchy: double-blind RCTs in MEDLINE-indexed journals > single-blind RCTs > open-label trials > observational studies > mechanism papers > N=1 case studies (anecdotes). Predatory journals and manufacturer-authored studies without independent replication are weighted down.
Product-specific evidence citations for this item are embedded in the analysis text on the "Analysis" tab. For the full framework and evidence hierarchy, see the methodology page.

Every VSF-related metafield surfaced verbatim. Nothing hidden. If you spot data that looks wrong, let us know.
Every score is set from the published rubric, audit-logged, and rescored whenever new evidence emerges (published trials, updated labels, third-party testing releases). Every vendor is scored on the same criteria — no pay-to-play. See our editorial-independence disclosure for the full policy, including brands with an editorial relationship to this site.
